The Design

First thing’s first; the assembly of the GX50 was a bit of a nightmare. It took 2 hours in total to get the cross trainer put together. In hindsight, it would probably be wise to have two people on hand to put the machine together in order to save time. However, once we had everything assembled, we were able to look at the design properly.

The first thing that we liked was the sturdiness of the frame. With a brand like Reebok, you would expect a robust design though. Another good thing about the GX50 is that it has a second fixed pair of handlebars. These handlebars have built in pulse sensors.

The LCD display is perfectly easy to see and looks nice on the frame. Overall, the design of this cross trainer is great, if a little on the bulky side. However, it is very close to gym quality equipment which is a big plus point.

Using the Cross Trainer

First of all, we really like the stride length on this cross trainer. It isn’t adjustable which is a shame, but it really allows you to feel like you are getting a proper work out at the gym. The sheer amount of built in programs on the GX50 are great. They allow you to massively vary the intensity of your work out and build on your fitness gradually.

Another good thing about this particular cross trainer is the fact that it doesn’t make much noise, unlike some of the more affordable machines on the market at the moment. You could easily use this cross trainer in the home without having to worry about disturbing anyone.

The menu on the LCD screen is very bright, clear and easy to see. However, if there is one flaw that we would like to point out it is the fact that the menu is a little difficult to navigate. The settings and different features are quite hard to figure out and the instructions are not all that helpful. Aside from this, we were very happy with the overall performance of the GX50.

The Extras

Considering the price that you can expect to pay for the Reebok GX50, we expected a little more in terms of extra features as it is quite expensive. We also feel that Reebok would have a better insight into useful extra features too, but this doesn’t seem to have been implemented.

However, there is the bonus of a 2 year warranty with this cross trainer. This is reassuring because if anything goes wrong with your cross trainer, you can contact Reebok directly who will deal with your issue. The only extra feature that we were really impressed with is the built in heart rate monitor. It’s great for tracking your improving fitness.

The Conclusion

If you are looking for a good, solid cross trainer that comes from a reputable brand, then the Reebok GX50 might be just what you are looking for. It has an impressive number of built in programs and with 32 levels of resistance, you are able to really push yourself. It could do with some extra features, but overall, it is impressive for definite.
